"Statutory Warning" - Cigarette Smoking is injurious to Health!
How oft, we read this line on pack of Cigarette, Hoardings, signboards, etc? World Health Organization estimates that about half the children in the world, about 700 million are regularly exposed to tobacco smoke in their homes. Initiatives to curb the health hazards by anti smoking and tobacco chewing campaigns are welcoming but the burning question in India remains, Who will bell the Cat? How could one educate masses who have adopted vices? It's in minds and people really need to be aware of not only their Health but other's health too. In foreign countries, Advertisers spend billions of dollars each year trying to get children to smoke.Talking to your kids honestly, clearly, and convincingly about the dangers of tobacco and nicotine addiction is an essential part of good parenting. U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that each day more than 3,000 kids become regular smokers and that about one third of these children will eventually die a "smoker's death" from cancer, heart disease, or lung disease. The most important way you can prepare to deal with smoking is by establishing good communication. The more you talk with your child, the better chance you have of staying close when things get tough.
The Book of Byron Preiss 'How to Raise Non-Smoking Kids' is a very good guide. Also by Neil Izenberg, MD, pediatrician is widely read guide. By all means - Stop the kids from Adopting vices like Smoking, Drinking, illicit drugs, etc.
